New Glass Viewing Platform at Level 88 Eureka Tower

This glass viewing platform will open on the Observation Deck at the Eureka tower in Melbourne on May 15.

The glass and steel construction is cantilevered from the building at 88 floors up. It rolls out of the building on wheels at the start of each day. The glass walls and floor are initially opaque and gradually change to clear, revealing the ground 88 floors below.

The glass cube is 2.1 metres high and 2.6 metres wide. It can hold up to 10 tonnes and is build to withstand winds over 70km/hr.

This cube was designed by Fender Katsalidis and built by Grocon Pty Ltd.

The project was outlined in a Real Lecture last year that was given by a staff member at Fender Katsalidis.
